These individuals were nominated by their Fleet leader and then selected by a committee for their outstanding work ethic, commitment to safety, adherence to company standards, and their role in upholding the image of Cargo Transporters.
Larry has been with Cargo Transporters since the early days of his career, where he initially ran containers. His journey into trucking began with a deep-rooted passion; he had always dreamed of driving a truck. Before earning his CDL-A from Catawba Valley Community College (CVCC), Larry managed shipping, served as a yard switcher at a manufacturing company, and even explored western NC truckload transportation.
One of Larry’s most cherished memories from his years on the road is witnessing a breathtaking balloon rally against the mountains in Flagstaff, Arizona—a sight that underscores the unique experiences the trucking life can offer.
Larry’s commitment to safety is unwavering. His advice to fellow drivers is clear:
"Stay alert to the surrounding traffic. You have to keep your eyes and your mind focused on your surroundings."
This focus and dedication have been key to his success and longevity in the industry.
Outside of his professional achievements, Larry and his wife Deborah will be celebrating 26 years of marriage this December, a testament to their enduring partnership of 33 years. He is an active member in his church, he enjoys singing and riding his Harley.
