Claremont based Cargo Transporters, Inc. has announced the start-up of operations at the company’s new property in Rocky Mount, NC.
Construction on the $6 million terminal facility began in March and is scheduled to be completed by end of year. The company will initially base 50 trucks and drivers at this facility and immediately grow to 100 drivers in the next 12 months and an additional investment in equipment of $6.9M. The facility, built by Rocky Mount based Smithson, Inc. is located in the Fountain Industrial Park and will consist of offices, driver lounge, orientation facilities, four shop maintenance bays and parking for 125 tractor-trailer combinations.
The company, a privately, family held business, has been operating the truckload carrier since 1982 and has been involved in truck leasing, warehousing and transportation for 50 years. “We are very excited about the opportunity to expand our operation closer to our eastern NC customers as well as the ability to hire drivers and employees based in this area,” says Dennis Dellinger, President. “Providing this state of the art facility closer to drivers’ homes will allow them to earn a maximum wage and still have quality time when they are at home with their family,” says Dellinger. The facility is also located just 250 yards from the newly announced CSX rail terminal.
The company is a truckload carrier operating 500 trucks serving the continental US. They are holding an OTR driver hiring event on Friday, August 19th 1-5pm at the temporary office onsite at 4043 College Rd, Rocky Mount, NC.
