CDL A Driver of the Month: A Freight Carrier’s Journey

Congratulations, Joseph Zukowski, on being selected as Cargo Transporters 2024 June CDL A Driver of the Month

The Cargo Transporters Driver of the Month Program aims to highlight and celebrate exceptional CDL A drivers who consistently exceed company expectations. These individuals were nominated by their Fleet Leader and then selected by a committee for their outstanding work ethic, commitment to safety, adherence to company standards, and their role in upholding the esteemed image of Cargo Transporters. Our Driver of the Month program aims to highlight certain individuals within the 505 CDL-A drivers that are within Cargo Transporters.

Zukowski is one of our over-the-road CDL-A drivers based out of our Charlotte, NC terminal. He has been a part of the Cargo Transporters family since November of 2020, celebrating 4 years this year. Since 2020, Zukowski has managed to drive over 468,500 miles of open road, making him a valuable asset to our CDL A driving jobs.

Although he had ties to the trucking industry through his dad and grandpa, Joseph decided to take after his uncle and go to school to become an Electrician. While in school, he decided to get his CDL’s to drive part-time. After some time, Joseph decided to pursue being a CDL A driver full time. 41 years later and he is still happy with his decision to be a Professional Driver instead of an Electrician.

Within the past 41 years, Zukowski has been able to live out different lives, from hauling turnpike doubles in New York City (122 feet long in total vs. a traditional dry-van trailer at 53 foot), working for a NASCAR vendor traveling to the different race tracks, working with Yamaha pre-pandemic delivering instruments to artists on tours, to now driving on the open road with Maggie, his deaf and blind Australian Shepherd.

While not driving and delivering loads, he spends his time with Maggie in his pick-up truck riding around finding new things to see. With a required 34-hour break for all drivers, Zukowski is able to spend it in upstate New York with his sister, other family members, and spend the down-time with his daughter, one of his three children.

Please join us in congratulating Joseph Zukowski – our June Driver of the Month for CDL A driving jobs. Here’s to many more miles, Joseph! Your Cargo Transporters family is proud of you.

Thank you, Joseph, for making the wheels go round!
