At Cargo Transporters, we take great pride in the dedication and professionalism of our drivers—and this month, we’re especially proud to recognize two standout team members who have been honored by the North Carolina Trucking Association (NCTA).
During the June NCTA Truck Driving Championship, the association officially announced the recipients of its 2024 Driver of the Month awards—and two of our own, Bobby Salters and David Hartline, were among those recognized.
Bobby Salters – January Driver of the Month
Bobby Salters has been a vital part of Cargo Transporters since 2005, logging over 2.5 million safe miles. His reputation as a safety-first professional and mentor is well known across the fleet.
Bobby’s journey began in the yards of W. Lee Flowers in South Carolina. Even before he got behind the wheel, his dedication and curiosity stood out to supervisors.
A veteran driver took Bobby under his wing early in his career, and that mentorship shaped his approach to trucking. Today, Bobby continues to share what he’s learned with others—especially new drivers.
He often reminds them: You can’t make up for lost time. His focus on pre-trip inspections, safe speeds, and intentional driving has helped him build a long and respected career.
He’s also inspired the next generation of drivers, including his nephew—now training others himself. Bobby’s passion for the road runs deep.
David Hartline – December Driver of the Month
David Hartline was named NCTA’s December Driver of the Month, recognizing more than 30 years of steady, dependable service in the trucking industry.
David’s career began with a goal to provide more for his family. He worked full-time while earning his CDL on weekends, showing a drive that still defines him today.
His calm, consistent demeanor makes him a reliable leader behind the wheel. He approaches every aspect of his work with discipline and focus—from pre-trips to paperwork.
David lives by the philosophy: It’s your ship to captain. It’s a mindset that reflects his patience, control, and pride in his craft.
Outside of work, David enjoys camping and spending time with his family in Claremont, NC. He’s a proud father and grandfather, deeply rooted in both his home life and his career.
