Matt joined Cargo Transporters in June 2016 and has safely driven more than 1.2 million miles during his career with the company. Today, he serves as an Over-the-Road Driver, where he continues to demonstrate the dedication and reliability that define our professional drivers.
His commitment to safety and consistent performance have made him a respected member of the Cargo Transporters team.
A Second-Generation Professional Driver
Matt’s career at Cargo Transporters began in a unique way. For his first two years, he drove as a team with his father, Bill Whisnant of Morganton, North Carolina. Since then, Matt has transitioned into solo Over-the-Road driving while continuing to build an outstanding safety record.
As a second-generation professional driver, Matt understands the value of hard work, responsibility, and representing the trucking industry with pride.
A Champion for Safety
Earlier this year, Matt added another achievement to his career by winning the 2026 Cargo Lytx Score Challenge. The annual competition recognizes drivers who demonstrate exceptional safe driving habits through outstanding Lytx performance.
This accomplishment, combined with more than 1.2 million miles, reflects Matt’s daily commitment to operating safely and setting a positive example for others.
